As creepy as children in horror can be, episodic indie game Poppy Playtime proved that toys can be even scarier. Throughout each of its five chapters (the most recent being released in February 2026), players make their way through an abandoned toy factory as they're hunted by the murderous playthings that have taken control of the facility.

Out of all the enemies players face, none are as genuinely horrifying as Huggy Wuggy, Playtime Co's unfriendly mascot.

The main antagonist of the first chapter, this traumatising toy's gigantic size and freakishly wide smile immediately make him an unwelcome presence when players encounter a statue of him standing in the centre of a room. When the fuzzy blue figure inexplicably vanishes, players know something horrible is about to happen.

The tension continues to rise until Huggy Wuggy suddenly emerges through a door and gives chase. What follows is a panic-inducing pursuit through a claustrophobic conveyor belt system where the sound of his footsteps are never far behind.

Although the first chapter can be completed in less than an hour, the image of Huggy Wuggy's toothy grin approaching players from the darkness is one that will stay for a long time.
