Release Date: TBA The Hype: 2011's acclaimed open-world zombie title finally gets its long-gestating follow-up, shifting the setting to California and introducing new, grotesque combat mechanics. Why It Might Suck: It's hard to ignore Dead Island 2's troubled production history: the original game's developer, Techland, bailed to work on Dying Light instead, while new developer Deep Silver were dropped after three years of development, and just recently, Sumo Digital were appointed as the new developers. Even if the game somehow makes it out in 2016, there's one major question that gameplay videos so far haven't been able to answer: aside from its setting, how does the game build on and differ from what came before? Dead Island felt like such a missed opportunity in so many areas, and if DI2 is just more of the same, critics and gamers likely won't be quite so forgiving this time.
