13. Monster Hunter Wilds
Though Monster Hunter Wilds was an eye-watering commercial success, selling over eight million units in just three days, it appears that a good portion of those players were left frustrated by what they got.
On launch the PC release was widely dinged for performance issues, where even powerful gaming rigs struggled to run it at a steady clip, many citing poor optimisation work on Capcom's part.
This was compounded by the general perception that the game wasn't nearly visually impressive enough to warrant such performance issues, some even calling it downright ugly.
Performance complaints still abound to this very day, while elsewhere Wilds has been criticised for its lack of content and also its noticeably lowered difficulty compared to Monster Hunter Worlds.
Though critically well received, the player response was considerably more fractious, some citing it as a textbook example of a complacent sequel to a hit game.
And while Wilds was an undeniable sales juggernaut on launch, its commercial performance fell off a cliff in the months that followed, likely due to so much negative word-of-mouth.
