20 Recent Indies That Put AAA To Shame
10. Disco Elysium Is The Peak Of Storytelling
AAA titles like to boast about their intricate storylines and the amount of story-defining choices that take a huge team of professionals and years of development to flesh out. As Cyberpunk 2077 has shown, due to overambitious deadlines and terrible crunch culture, the promised variety and substance can often turn out exaggerated, which is why an indie title like Disco Elysium is a welcome break from the norm.
For the uninitiated, Disco Elysium is an isometric RPG that features some of the most innovative and in-depth approaches to storytelling to date. The game does not only offer choices that actually define the course of the story, but thanks to its Psyche Skills system, they also alter the very personality of the main character, Detective Harry Du Bois.
Its realistic but dystopian world, coupled with intricately written characters and genuinely impactful dialogue choices, makes it one of the best RPGs on the market today, with an incredible plot that we just haven't been able to see in AAA productions in recent years.
If you’ve been looking for an immersive and story-driven experience, you honestly can’t get any better than Disco Elysium.
