20 Recent Indies That Put AAA To Shame
14. Schedule I Is 2025's Top Seller
As we delve deeper and deeper into 2025, it’s clear that AAA titles are being outdone by independent developers in pretty much every field. In fact, earlier this year on March 24, one really simple and really goofy indie title managed to outdo its big-budget competition in sales, as it became Steam’s top seller within twenty-four hours after its release!
We are, of course, talking about Schedule I!
Schedule I is a drug-dealing simulator that, despite its criminal theme, offers a rather cozy experience as you become your local community's favorite narcotics guy. The game’s simplistic and deliberately cartoonish visuals may not look like much, but the gameplay loop of manufacturing and distributing your product, combined with the game’s ridiculously well-simulated town, makes for such an addicting experience that the game managed to instantly grow a huge following.
The level of detail and immersive simulation this tiny game is capable of makes it a serious competitor to the quality of AAA titles. Considering it’s still in early development and costs a fraction of major releases, it’s honestly no wonder people are so hooked on it!
It’s almost as if the game were a drug of its own!
