20 Things You Didn't Know About Gears Of War

13. Gears 5's Ghostly Reunion

Gears of War
The Coalition

The Gears franchise is no stranger to Easter eggs. From massive golden chickens to cowboy-hat wearing Corpsers, the series is filled to the brim with silly hidden secrets hidden, and characters even comment on them as they go.

Yet there's an especially heartfelt secret lurking in Gears 5. A staple feature in Gears games are the collectables the player picks up along their adventure. In Gears 5, some collectables relate to deceased characters from previous instalments. Some examples include Chairman Prescott's watch on a desk and the two helmets of the dead Carmine brothers.

Placing these collectables near a war memorial emits ghostly whispers of dead characters' dialogue lines; setting them all down conjures the ghostly images of the deceased. It's a subtle nod to some heart-breaking moments in the previous games, as Kait Diaz salutes the memorial in respect. Remember the Fallen.
