20 Unlucky Moments That TOTALLY Ruin Your Game

16. The Collector - Darkest Dungeon

Darkest Dungeon is one of the most ruthless roguelike dungeon crawlers of all time, as pretty much anyone who played it can attest to. You could say that a lot of the game depends on luck, since all the dungeons are procedurally generated and the outcome of most encounters is determined by who has better RNG.

However, while luck is definitely a factor, once you get a grip on the game’s mechanics, it’s easy to mitigate most of this randomness with careful planning and preparation.

This said, nothing can prepare you for the Collector.

The Collector is a hidden mini-boss that has a small (around 3%) chance to spawn in the middle of the dungeon if you carry a lot of items in your inventory. It always appears in hallways, where you least expect enemies to be, and it can catch your team by surprise, making his already powerful abilities even more deadly.

The chance is so low that most people don’t really worry about the Collector appearing, unless they deliberately want to summon him. However, if you’re unlucky enough to catch his unsolicited attention, the unexpected attack can cost you your favorite squad.

Well, it's still not as unlucky as healing zero health and applying bleed damage with the occultist.
