20 Upcoming Games GTA 6 Has RUINED 2026 For
8. Lords of Fallen 2/ Mortal Shell 2/Code Vein 2
This entry is kind of a cheat, but on closer look, all of these games face the same conditions with their TBA 2026 release slots. They’re sequels to mid-tier, serviceable Souls-like titles that sold just well enough, but not enough to get gamers doing backflips over their announcements.
Generic as they all feel, hats off to the new ideas they tried to bring to the table: the Lords of the Fallen reboot featured an always-available overlapping world for double exploration, Mortal Shell introduced its Harden block mechanic and ready-made Shell class system, and Code Vein offered an anime aesthetic and a permanent AI support character. Regardless, these titles are still overshadowed by FromSoftware’s iconic games and didn’t do much with the genre beyond satisfying players who needed a fix while waiting for the next big official release.
There’s still room for these AA sequels to earn enough to keep going, as they’ve found their niche in a way, but they need to be strategic about their release windows. None has the pedigree to compete with 2026's Nioh 3 or FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods - let alone GTA 6.
