13. The Elder Scrolls VI
One of the few upcoming games whose hype levels can hold a candle to GTA VI, The Elder Scrolls VI was first announced all the way back at E3 2018, with producer Todd Howard even later acknowledging that Bethesda announced it far, far too early.
More than eight years later we still haven't seen a shred of gameplay, and yet the legendary RPG franchise's reputation is mighty enough that fans are still chomping at the bit to get their hands on it.
After all, predecessor Skyrim was a generational, hugely influential RPG, and so there's understandable hope that its follow-up will land with a similar impact.
Even accepting Bethesda's wobblier track record in recent years with the likes of Fallout 76 and Starfield, it's easy to believe that they're taking the time to ensure that Elder Scrolls VI lives up to the series' storied legacy.
Regardless of when it finally releases, it's likely to be one of the best sixth installments in any video game franchise.
