10. Liquid Ocelot (Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots)

The summation of every second we'd spent playing the Metal Gear Solid franchise culminated in the epic final showdown between Old Snake and Liquid Ocelot at the climax of Metal Gear Solid 4. Set atop Liquid's warship Outer Haven, the battle is a relatively simplistic and not a particularly difficult fistfight between the two, but this one's all about the presentation. The visuals of the sun setting and the epic music (the signature tune from each of the first three MGS games plays out during the fight, complete with the relevant energy bar attached to each) are Hideo Kojima at his most assured. Pushing the PS3's technology as far as possible, every game released on the console in the five and a half years since has struggled to compete with its technical brilliance, and that was no more apparent than in what was one of the all-time most satisfying and jaw-dropping boss fights.
