15. Cronos (God of War III)

The epic boss battle was redefined in God of War III, as Kratos took on the Titan Cronos, one of the biggest mismatches in gaming history considering that Kratos is roughly the size of one of Cronos' teeth. The battle begins with Cronos trying to squash you between his fingers, after which you'll have to tear off one of his fingernails in order to climb up him, all the while fighting off any of his minions who show up. Eventually you'll be thrown into Cronos' stomach, which is his key mistake, as it allows you to tunnel out of it in grisly fashion, climb up to his forehead and then stab him in the head with the Blade of Olympus, finishing him off. Everything about this boss fight is a marvel from a technical perspective, and I had never seen anything quite like it the first time I played it. The sense of scale, the incredible graphics, the slick, seamless feel of the whole fight: it is everything the GoW franchise can be during its best moments, and we all let out a sigh of relief when it was all over.
