One of the shining jewels of the PS2 survival-horror crown, Haunting Ground is one of Capcom's finest, albeit overlooked, horror offerings that has retained a dedicated cult following in the now two decades since it's release.

Players take on the role of Fiona Belli, a young woman who finds herself trapped in a bizarre gothic castle after a car accident. Aided by her German Shepherd companion Hewie, Fiona must solve puzzles and survive intense encounters with the deranged residents of the castle, all of whom wish to do some incredibly nefarious things to her.

The core enemies of the game are all stalkers, who must be avoided or escaped until obligatory boss fights. They're a lot to handle on their own but they aren't the only things you should be worried about on your travels.

Towards the back-end of the game, you'll encounter the Homonculi, malformed biological experiments who barely come up to Fiona's knees. Upon spotting her, they'll rush forward, grab her legs and begin screaming, alerting the nearby stalker to your location, completely throwing a spanner in your works and derailing whatever progress you were making.

Thankfully, they can be easily kicked aside but by the time you get to that point, the damage is already done.
