20 Video Game Hard Modes For True Masochists
6. Masochist - Intravenous 2
Intravenous 2 is a top-down shooter that’s basically Hotline Miami if you stripped it of all color and woozy graphics and put a bigger emphasis on stealth.
The game follows a young man who is forced into becoming an assassin, and as you may expect from this premise, it can be quite difficult to keep a rookie like him alive.
Especially if you play on Masochist.
The Masochist game mode is exactly that. A difficulty setting created for those who love to suffer every second of their playtime. Playing on lower difficulties is comparable to Hotline Miami (a game that most people would still consider hard, by the way), as the game lets you go in guns blazing and kill everyone in one hit.
On Masochist, however, enemies take a lot more bullets to kill, and they are programmed to act much smarter. Unlike the average goon from Hotline, Intravenous’ enemies on Masochist will camp outside rooms where they heard noises instead of rushing in blindly, and even the daintiest sounds, like you reloading your magazine, will alert them.
And keep in mind, Intravenous 2 gives you limited save slots, so every mistake you make sticks with you until death.
