20 Video Game NPCs You CAN'T Afford To Lose
18. Shopkeeper - Spelunky 2
Spelunky 2, like its predecessor, is a roguelike dungeon crawler about exploring underground ruins filled with beasts, traps, and deadly monsters.
Also, shopkeepers, which, as weird as it sounds, are the most dangerous enemies in the game.
Shopkeepers appear in most levels in the game, offering a variety of useful items for sale. They are normally friendly to the player, but if you get the bright idea to kill one to get their goodies for free, their aggression goes from zero to a hundred.
After you cross your first shopkeeper, every subsequent shopkeeper will be out to get you. The clerks will start shooting you with shotguns on sight, moving erratically across the screen and stunning you with every bullet that hits you (if the bullets don't insta-kill you, that is).
Some of the shopkeepers will even set up ambushes on you at the exit doors, and if you kill more than five shopkeepers while trying to fend them off, their association will start building outposts with three to four angry merchants out to get you.
Whatever item you get for taking out a shopkeeper is just not worth the gauntlet that follows right after.
