18. Gnomish Mines And Other Hidden Levels - Barony
Barony is a first-person roguelike dungeon crawler where your goal is to reach the deepest parts of a procedurally generated dungeon.
It’s hard to see everything the game has to offer on a single playthrough, but even then, nothing in the game is as elusive as its hidden optional levels.
Barony features six different biomes that change the deeper down the dungeon you go. Within each biome there are hidden entrances that allow you to travel to optional secret levels that usually contain powerful rewards.
In the starting biome of the Mines, these secret entrances can lead you to a labyrinth filled with gnomes or a portal to the Underworld, but the deeper layers of the dungeon will take you to many other different hidden areas.
Each secret level is tied to a specific biome, and once you progress past the said biome, you won’t be able to visit it on the same run. Considering that most of these secret areas feature legendary loot that cannot be obtained otherwise, you will really want to keep your eyes peeled for any unusual entrances, possibly labeled with inviting messages like "No Tresspassing."
That’s where the best loot is secretly hidden.
