20 Video Game Villains That SHOULDN'T Have Died

Borderlands 2 introduced the world to the series' most popular antagonist to date - the inimitable Handsome Jack.

At once thigh-slappingly hilarious and absolutely diabolical, Jack is truly a villain fans loved to hate, and so many were left crestfallen when he died at the end of the second game.

This isn't entirely unlike The Joker's death in the Batman: Arkham games - Jack's charismatic intensity casts such a huge shadow across the franchise that when you take him away, it can't help but feel like it's missing something.

And just as with The Joker, it feels like Borderlands developer Gearbox knew it too, given that Jack re-appeared in both the prequel game Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! and as an AI hologram in sequel Tales from the Borderlands.

Considering how attached Borderlands fans are to Jack, it's painfully clear that Gearbox could and probably should've strung out his tenure a little longer - especially with how patently luckluster the third and fourth game's main villains have been by comparison.
