20 Video Game Villains You Couldn’t Wait To Kill
9. Micah Bell - Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018)
Red Dead Redemption 2 has proven for the past eight years that there are still plenty of teeth in the Western, offering fans of gunslingers and saloons, alongside less banjo-inclined audiences, the opportunity to traverse the Wild West in a simulation that’s about as close to Westworld as we’re ever going to get.
Down the long and dusty road, we encounter chancers, beggars, swindlers, rogues and lawmen of every stroke, hacking out our path as outlaw Arthur Morgan. And while the characters are all the colourful variety we have come to expect from Rockstar, there are a few standout figures – not least Micah Bell.
Anyone and everyone who has plumbed the hours into Red Dead knows and loathes Micah Bell as a traitor, murderer and all-round bad seed. A member of the Van der Linde gang Arthur cut his teeth in, Micah is directly or indirectly responsible for many of the miseries we face in the game – including literally being executed by him – and is the very definition of a no-good, dirty, varmint outlaw.
So, lord, how it's a satisfaction to finally do him in at the game’s close, as Arthur’s compatriot, John Marston. And his death is a suitably unglamorous one – shot to pieces, lying face-down in the snow – that befits the man.
