15. Metal Gear Rex (Metal Gear Solid)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bd1kgQCOHj0 While most games that come out today feel like interactive summer blockbusters,
Metal Gear Solid was doing all of that in grand fashion in 1998. There had already been some fantastic boss fights against the likes of Psycho Mantis and Sniper Wolf, but the fun of the one-on-one confrontation against Metal Gear Rex is the one that will keep you coming back. It's a brilliant two-stage fight that also includes a heartbreaking story interlude between Grey Fox and Snake, a stunning combination of exciting challenge and trademark Hideo Kojima narrative. You feel so very small and outgunned on this battlefield, just a man armed with some Stinger missiles. Rex towers over you, a gigantic sight that urges you to get it together if you want to triumph. It's as rewarding a boss fight as you could ever ask for, leaving you with the pride of having defeated one of gaming's most iconic bosses.
