'You cannot sleep, for there are enemies nearby.'

Why did that coworker you really don't like have to have a girlfriend two doors down from you? Now, every time they're over, you can't sleep because your enemies are far too close for comfort.

In videogames, this mechanic generally makes a whole lot more sense than it does in real life. Not many of us have real dangerous enemies we have to wary of sleeping around (best friends are the exception, we expect them to mess with us when we're asleep). In videogames, you probably shouldn't bed down when you're in the middling of raiding a deadly lair full of monsters as, you know, one of them might eat your face off or something while you're in snoozeland.
