As awesome and huge as the Super Bowl and WrestleMania are, they totally pale in comparison to the FIFA World Cup, which despite the considerable controversy surrounding its emanating from Russia this time, is going to keep hundreds of millions of fans glued to their TVs for the better part of a month.

It'll be interesting to see how Italy's shocking failure to qualify - for the first time in almost 60 years no less - will affect the complexion of the tournament, which will no doubt stir up the proud countryman in every viewer for a time...until their team is inevitably eliminated and the glow quickly evaporates.

For that time, though, it's going to be the beautiful game at its most magical.
