4. Silent Hill (Xbox One/PS4)

I'll let you into a little secret (which for anyone who's read my previous articles may not be the biggest secret); I'm a massive Silent Hill nerd. From the very first time I booted up Silent Hill 1 on my (now very elderly) PlayStation, I was scared out of my skull, not to mention hooked on the intelligent psychological story. From there the series only improved with the chilling Silent Hill 2 and then 3. 4 was okay, and then the series kind of lost it's way. The latest iterations of Silent Hill on Xbox 360 and PS4 left a lot to be desired. Silent Hill Homecoming was clunky and
literally dark, while Silent Hill Downpour was bizarrely actiony and lacked any good enemy design, let alone any good scares. But in these games, the stories were tight, and I still found little things to enjoy, yet the less said about the pitiful HD Collection the better. When thinking about what I would love to see on next gen, Silent Hill came straight to my mind. Silent Hill needs to get back on track, and the next gen revolution would be a great reason to stage a revival, not just just for the game, but for survival horror in general. I believe that the genre is still as relevant now as it has ever been, and next gen should show that. Imagine a full scaled Silent Hill, just there for the exploring, filled with all the horrors and nasties of the protagonist's mind. The geography of Silent Hill has been added to with each game, and it would be great to collect them all together and provide a deep and mythological story about just what Silent Hill really is. Now, before I start talking at length about Silent Hill, I'm going to move on...
