Gay, straight and bisexual NPCs have already been confirmed, opening up the field of options considerably. Gender expression beyond the binary has not been spoken about yet, but given the rich history of queer themes and counterculture in sci-fi, inclusivity of this nature would not be a huge surprise.
Krem, an non-romanceable NPC from Dragon Age: Inquisition, is still probably the best representation of a non-cisgender character in gaming. However, with the amount of player customisation, diversity of choice, thematically appropriate setting and a studio able to take a risk, the stars are aligned for Cyberpunk 2077 to take that baton and run with it - if it so wishes.
