5 Reasons Cyberpunk 2077 Will Be The Best Game Of 2019

Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red

Dragon Age: Inquisition has already gotten a mention twice, primarily because it’s easy to draw parallels between it and CD Projekt Red's last game, The Witcher. Both are sprawling RPGs with customisable fighting styles, a range of enemies, and a complex, engaging story supported by well thought out side-quests. But even without the obvious quality and craft the two share, both are set in pseudo-medieval eras with mythical creatures.

They are not alone in this genre, either. Elder Scrolls, Kingdom Come, Dark Souls and Baldur’s Gate are just a handful of titles which fit that description to some extent. They all have their own play-styles and narratives, but between them all you do see repeated tropes. The Witcher rarely felt repetitive even over 100 hours of game time, but it rarely felt brand new either.

Cyberpunk 2077 will. Yes, Deus Ex, Remember Me and Detroit: Become Human have all been in similar ball parks, but for varying reasons, they all fell short. Hell, Remember Me’s name feels painfully ironic in hindsight. If CDPR nail Cyberpunk 2077's world like they did The Witcher's, it’ll be head and shoulders above the competition.
