3. F2P Is Not Really F2P
This is something I started noticing when my MMO of choice went free-to-play. At first, I was excited, because I belived that I'm going to save a lot of money. Needlessly said, my wallet became even more hollow than before. Why is that? Because companies often use this type of subscription: It's free to play until a point where leveling up becomes a living hell and you start falling behind in items in currency. Then, you have three options: you quit the game, buy in game points or buy a subscription. Chances are, you reached this point because you like the game just enough to be willing to pay a small amount of money for a few points. These points will allow you to keep enjoying the game until you decide to buy a subscription. Oh, but don't worry, you'll be paying extra to buy useless stuff from the online store anyway. And there you go, even more money thrown out of the window for a seemingly free-to-play VG.
