5 Video Games That Did DLC Right (And 5 That Ripped You Off)

3. Wrong - The Call Of Duty Series

Red dead redemption
Activision

In addition to the standard $60 price tag video games come with these days, Activision are notorious for selling add-on content that very easily could have been put on the game's disc, such as extra maps.

You'd think a game that's biggest selling point is it's online multiplayer would be a bit more generous with such things, but no such luck. In fact, in all probability, Activision knows exactly what they're doing, intentionally chopping off maps and selling them as "extras" for the sake of making more money off of their players, as by this point, they know full well that plenty of them will gladly play the extra cash.

Not to mention the slew of micro-transactions that many still pay all for extra weapon skins or emblems.

Speaking of selling points, Activision are so arrogant with their exploitation of DLC, it borders on megalomania. On more than one occasion, they have used one lone map as a pre-order exclusive, then used that as a major marketing tool. They think their players just love the old Black Ops so much, that a shiny new version of the Nuketown map is all the incentive they need to buy the latest instalment at launch.

Worse yet, a lot of times, they're right.
