Let's get one thing straight: The CoD series has been diluted into a ridiculously overhyped slugfest ever since Modern Warfare 3, and some might even say it happened long before that. There's no denying this. It's not a matter of personal preference. It's a plain fact. Nobody can come out and say that the newest iterations of this franchise are as "realistic" and groundbreaking as the older ones were. However, the gameplay is spot on, with great hit feedback, weaponry and a load of customisability options. Now, since this once revered series is not taken seriously by virtually anyone by this point, there is no reason not to adapt the winning (selling) formula to different genres and platforms. Because, let's be honest, Call of Duty is on a downfall spiral if we take into account the games coming up with the Next-Gen. Titanfall, to name only one, is looking to be its toughest contender. In all seriousness, it blows CoD out of the water. Of course, that does not mean that this series is leaving us anytime soon. Activision cannot be left without its sacred cash cow, but also seemingly doesn't want to change anything worthwhile about it. So what we're facing now is akin to dying of old age. It's just going to get worse as time goes by. The most obvious thing to do would be to readapt the franchise into something else.
