50 Memorable Moments That Defined The Last Gaming Generation

37. Shadow Warfare

Limbo Spider There's been plenty to love about Indie gaming over the last few years. What was once a small part of the industry has grown exponentially, allowing smaller developers to make excellent games that get embraced by a wider audience than ever before. In the case of Limbo, gamers instantly fell in love with this inventive take on the platforming and puzzle genre. Eerie, chilling and downright awesome to play, Limbo casts you as a lonely soul in a mysterious world where every step forward leads to mystery. The absolute definitive moment of the game is of course the first time you see the giant spider, uncoiling itself from the wall to impale you with its deadly legs of death. Lovely stuff.

36. How To Hunt For A Lost Child

35. Nuclear Bomb In Yo' Face

Modern Warfare Nuke What with a release every single year, we've kind of become desensitised to Call of Duty's genuinely quite amazing setpieces. When we do play the campaign it's generally just for the hell of it, just cause it's there, kind of lingering in the background. Before this all happened though, there was Modern Warfare. A brand new take on Call of Duty, which had been stuck in World War II since forever, the game was set in the present, gave us new weapons, exciting new gameplay and took full advantage of the Xbox 360/PS3's power to bring us the COD juggernaut we all love or hate in the present age. The most memorable moments of this game was without doubt the section where you flee an area, only to be struck down by a nuclear bomb literally going off right next to you. Your character survives the blast and emerges out into a destroyed city, finally succumbing to his wounds after witnessing the devastation.
