2. Nathan Fillion As Gunnery Sargeant Edward Buck - Halo

Willem Dafoe Beyond: Two Souls
343 Industries

Nathan Fillion's involvement with the Halo franchise began before his face appeared among its characters. In Halo 3, he lent his vocal talents as Gunnery Sergeant Reynolds (this character, interestingly, was named after Fillion's popular role as Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly), but it wasn't until Halo 3: ODST that he appeared as super-soldier Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck in voice as well as facial likeness.

Fillion then reprised his role as Buck in further instalments in the franchise, including Halo: Reach and Halo 5: Guardians. The character of Buck needed an actor with great depth and subtlety to bring to life the long and detailed story of the legendary Spartan, an actor able to show military leadership and prowess, yet also a more vulnerable human side. Fillion's acting calibre proved him to be the perfect choice, as his performance established Buck as a fan favourite and one of the most memorable characters in the Halo franchise.
