7 Awesome Film Franchises That Deserve A Great Next-Gen Game

4. Mad Max

Mad Max 2

Max Rockatansky€™s adventures have practically influenced every post-apocalyptic video game made in recent memory (Borderlands and Fallout in particular). George Miller€™s iconic 1979 film and its sequels have built up an impressive mythology that is perfect for a next-gen game adaption. Mel Gibson€™s performance as Max brought him into the public spotlight and in the two sequels, The Road Warrior, released in 1981 and Beyond Thunderdrome in 1985, the film€™s universe expanded significantly and this year will see the release of a fourth Max film, titled Fury Road with Tom Hardy taking over the role from Gibson. So what better time to reintroduce Max to the gaming community? Be it furious action or racing mayhem, Mad Max has plenty to offer gamers. Also, in having one of the most bad-ass film heroes of the 80s as the lead character (which provides a nice change from the customizable silent hero we are accustomed to) affords the possibility of a more personal story to drive the action and mayhem. Surprisingly there has only been one previous Mad Max game, released in 1990 on the NES. Surely now, the possibility of Max roaming and trying to survive in a vast and dangerous world would fit in perfectly with a next-generation release and especially since games it directly inspired like Borderlands and Fallout remain big sellers, why not Mad Max too?
