1. Hack/Slash
Take Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the Scream series and every slasher flick from the 80s, throw them into a blender, hit purée and you've got Hack/Slash; a love letter to the slasher films of yesteryear. Our heroine, Cassie Hack, is a final-girl-turned-slasher-of-slashers who teams up with Vlad - a disfigured giant with the physique of Jason Vorhees and the heart of an overeager puppy - to scour the world of slashers, zombies, Devil-worshiping rock stars and killer dolls. Oh yeah, these two have seen a lot of action. Hack/Slash's charm lies in it's self-aware attitude - it's the kind of comic that thrives on your indulgence of genre tropes and is all too happy to laugh along with you. You can have a fornicator-slaying preacher slicing up horny teens in one issue, and murderous teddy bears in the next. There's even a story where Robert Kirkman gets slaughtered by an overzealous fan. Yes folks, THAT Robert Kirkman. It's absolutely mental, and practically begging for an adaptation. With two characters to bounce between, gameplay should ideally focus on contrasting Cassie's lighting speed with Vlad's brutish strength. Hopping from town to town in search of slashers should feel like an easter egg hunt - and when you've got the likes of Re-Animator's Herbert West, and Brad Dourif's 'Chucky' filling the basket, it makes for one hell of a night. I don't think anybody would turn down the chance to go toe to toe with the killer doll from Child's Play, and since we're talking cameos - why not go all the way and throw in Michael Myers, Jason Vorhees and Freddy Krueger? Hell, let's go a step further and throw in some of gaming's most famous psychos while we're at it - Scissorman, anyone?
