6. The Lovecraft-Inspired Lore

From Software

From Software as a company are infamously known for burying their storylines deep within hidden moments and item descriptions; forcing players to really work at figuring out what the hell is going on. But if you’re into the sort of themes it engages with (Godlike space aliens and mutated fish monsters, and who isn’t?), Bloodborne is well worth the effort.

Based off the works of H.P. Lovecraft, Bloodborne's story engages and intrigues as much as it baffles and beggars belief.

Stories are woven with careful precision through the world, and each one is as gripping as the last. The characters fascinate and terrify, and each one has their own story to tell. It is so layered and unique, truly unlike anything any game has ever done before, and if you’re willing to put in the time, this is a story so beautifully and intrinsically crafted, you can’t help but be sucked in by it.
