7 Things Nintendo's E3 Stream Secretly Told Us About The NX
5. The NX Is Not Going To Be Insanely Powerful
One of the things that many critics of the Wii U point to is the fact that it's significantly less powerful than its competitors. This is the reason, some say, that third party support is so lacking – it's very difficult to get current gen games running on the Wii U, making ports difficult to impossible.
One huge point of speculation, then, has been that Nintendo's NX system will be a total powerhouse, utilizing new technology to blaze past the PS4 and Xbox One. Fans have wondered whether or not Nintendo mightn't set their sites on returning to the glory days, when gimmicks were non-existent in the face of a powerful system with great games.
But this is yet another hope that was quietly squashed at this year's E3. Reggie Fils-Aime told Bloomberg, “For us, it's not about specs, it's not about teraflops, it's not about the horsepower of a particular system. For us, it's about content”.
It's fairly clear from this statement, then, that Nintendo has no interest in chasing the latest, greatest technology.
