7 Upcoming Video Game Reboots That'll Blow You Away In 2016

4. Doom

Maybe stretching the definition of a 'reboot' here, but if a new game in a series comes out and it removes any numbers or colons followed by arbitrary 'badass' words from its name, then the publishers are sending a clear message that they're looking to make a fresh start, right? With that said, gameplay-wise Doom seems to pick up right where Doom 3 left off, offering the crunchy, arcadey gameplay that gamers have always flocked to the series for. The footage we've seen so far has focused mercifully little on the storyline (Mars, marine, demons from hell, 'nuff said), instead showing off the satisfying new melee finishers, jumping mechanics and hordes of typically well-designed hellish creatures. Maybe what we're really dealing with here is more a continuation of that much-loved Doom formula than anything that tries to redefine it, but the fact that it's a retelling of the series' classic 'demonic invasion of the UAC Mars Research Facility' is enough of an excuse for it to muscle its way onto this list.
