7 Video Game Heroes Who Broke Their "No Killing" Rule

6. Kazuma Kiryu - Yakuza

A massive running gag amongst the Yakuza fandom, for the longest time the established character trope for the legendary Kazuma Kiryu is that he "doesn't kill".

A response to having three of his own family slain, Kiryu swears himself to a life of pacifism, and besides routinely coming up in many of the games as a core plot point or reason someone gets away with something, there are MANY instances where ol' Kaz is still just slaughtering people.

Most notably is in newer games in the series, Yakuza 6 and Yakuza 0, where Kazuma takes a rocket launcher to a gunship filled being piloted, and literally fires a handgun at the head of another pilot, respectively.

This is alongside the Batman-esque crumples of broken bones and brain damage he leaves street thugs in - that we have to assume don't lead to a more permanent end - and things like using the "Broken M1985 shotgun" or a number of katanas on enemies too.

There's even a scene in Yakuza Kiwami where Kiryu grabs an innocent waiter and uses him to block a barrage of machine gun bullets from an assailant, before throwing the bullet-ridden corpse at the person, and fighting everyone else.

All those piles of bodies; the lack of movement, the fact goons get tossed out of skyscraper windows, off moving cars or have their heads fried in microwaves?

Yeah... they're all fine. It's A-Team logic.
