Pick any popular franchise and it'll more than likely have a pinball game.
Sonic Spinball, Pokémon Pinball, Metroid Prime Pinball - at least having a pinball game makes some kind of sense with these franchises. Both Sonic and Samus turn into balls in their respective games, so why not throw them into a pinball machine?
Poké Balls are balls, let's hurl them towards Pokémon trapped in a pinball table as a new form of torture for the poor creatures.
But no matter which way you look at Mario, he isn't a ball, and that, apparently, upset the developers of Super Mario Ball because they decided to rectify that.
Super Mario Ball, also known as Mario Pinball Land in North America is a game where Princess Peach gets kidnapped so Mario enters a machine called the Spherasizer which turns him into a ball because apparently, that will help him rescue Princess Peach.
Even the four pinball fans out there didn’t like this one, and it quickly fell into obscurity.
Maybe that's for the best.
