8 Amazing Video Game Sequels Not Made By The Original Developers

3. Batman: Arkham Origins

The ill-fated spin off to Rocksteady's Batman franchise, it's still unclear just why everyone soured on Arkham Origins when it released. Sure It’s not the best game in the series, but it’s arguably got more original content and less horrible gimmicks than Arkham Knight and its batmobile shoehorning.

Taking up the reigns on Origins was Warner Bros. Montreal, who were hired in order to pump out a sequel/prequel to Arkham City in a shorter time frame than Rocksteady could. It was a decision that was not met well by the public, who feared a drop in quality. Luckily Origins is not only a remarkably solid effort by the team, but it’s one that decided not to break the mould in terms of gameplay, and instead focus more on the relationship between Batman and his adversaries.

The Joker yet again being the central antagonist was a little bit deflating for some, but the title offered such a great analysis of their rivalry, allowing the player to experience how close Batman came to his end at the hands of the Clown Prince of Crime.

Simply because this prequel was so deftly put together, all the later games carry even more weight.
