Even though Knights of the Old Republic could've been a cash-grab, BioWare pulled out all the stops, creating the best Star Wars game ever. Because of its influence and reputation, fans couldn't see how the sequel could top it.

And it didn't. Instead of being innovative, KOTOR II: The Sith Lords just gave players more of the same, leaving the combat and Force powers virtually unchanged. However, it was the rampant glitches, the pathfinding bugs, and the fact the game is incomplete which drew the most ire.

But even the most disappointed gamers were impressed when they learned the truth about our hero's trusted ally, Atton Rand.

For the longest time, the player is under the impression Atton is a Lost Jedi. Only after you've confided in him and embraced him into your team do you discover Atton is a deep-cover Sith. Because this guy oozes charm that could rival Han Solo, you never suspected he wasn't on your side, which makes it sting so much more when he figuratively twists the lightsaber in your back.

Although this moment was nowhere near as impactful as the Darth Revan revelation in the first instalment, it was still a major highlight in KOTOR II.
