In the late 2000s, rhythm games held an increasingly large share of the gaming market, as retailers flocked to sell plastic peripherals with every game possible, and with the rivalry between Guitar Hero and Rockband only driving sales up further.

The first title in the Activision series to include wireless controllers, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock was a critical and commercial success with its iconic soundtrack.

One change that many reviewers noted their dislike for though, was the third instalment in the GH franchise's increased difficulty compared to previous games.

However, the game didn't truly ramp up the difficulty until the player reached the final song. Through the Fire and the Flames by the American band, Dragonforce is an ode to string-based virtuosity, and the unlockable track is incredibly difficult to complete in-game.

Gamers have since devised methods to make surviving the initial assault of fast-paced notes that little bit more bearable for regular players.

Despite Through the Fire and the Flames proving to be an almost insurmountable challenge for players, including the guy who actually played the guitar on the song, Herman Li, several guitar (hero) gods have since managed to 100% the entire track.
