8 Embarrassing Video Game TV Adaptations You Won't Believe Got Made
6. Mortal Kombat: Defenders Of The Realm

Ok so if you were the manager of a property aimed at adults, with tonnes of gore and blood all over the product what's the last thing you'd probably consider doing with that IP? You probably wouldn't want to make an animated TV series aimed at KIDS right? Well, that's EXACTLY what Midway Games decided to do with the utterly lousy Defenders of the Realm cartoon.
And what made it so bad? If there's one thing that I'm sure the kids WOULD have liked to see from this cartoon based on a game that they were too young to play, then it would have to be the much touted combat scenes right? Nope: the cartoon showed next to no battling and most of what it did show was so badly animated you'd get a better fight out of rubbing two pieces of dry toast together.
Bland storytelling and characters that all boiled down to just their catchphrases provided an inane experience even for the youngest viewers and it was little surprise that the series wasn't renewed. The only saving grace came in the form of Quan Chi debuting in this series and the fact that Jax actually removes his arms, which answers a fan theory that has been floating around for ages... not that this series is counted as cannon (or should that be kannon?)
