8 Embarrassing Video Game TV Adaptations You Won't Believe Got Made

7. Legend Of Zelda

DIC Animation City

Now I'm in two minds with this one. Though as an animated series this is visually akin to watching a scrapyard burn down then trying to draw it with an etch-a-sketch, it gave the world "well excuuuuuuse me princess", which has inadvertently become one of the most banter one liners you can hope to chuck into a gaming conversation.

But let's backtrack and break down why this is about as honest a rendition of The Legend of Zelda as Ross Kemp is a hair model. For a start, the characterisation of Link and Zelda respectively is absolutely terrible; Zelda is portrayed as a stuck up snob, and Link, well, Link is an absolute grabber, always demanding a kiss from Zelda for saving her. Link mate, no means no, get it through your wonky skull.

The plot is pretty much barebones, with Gannon attempting to steal the Triforce of Wisdom from Hyrule each week and coming across as about as threatening as a hug from your nan. His level of ineptitude is only matched by that of the show itself, which changes rupees to rubies (because f**ck the source material) and also never for one second mentions the Triforce of Courage despite the name tri literally inferring a third piece. It's a very dumb series that clearly showed no understanding of the reference material and there's no excuuuuuses for it being this bad.

Jules Gill hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
