8 Fallout Companions With Surprisingly Dark Pasts

7. Cass - Fallout New Vegas

Fallout 3
Obsidian Entertainment

Daughter of Fallout 2's John Cassidy, Rose of Sharon Cassidy is one of the most beloved companions in Fallout: New Vegas, thanks to her skills with a rifle, outspoken nature, and fierce temperament.

Her father's legacy has clearly left an impact on Cass, as she has inherited his unhealthy drinking habit, and heart problems.

When the Courier first encounters Cass, she is despondent, drowning her sorrows at the Mojave outpost after finding out that her caravan had been ambushed and burnt to the ground but was unable to leave due to a bureaucratic issue with the New California Republic.

Once the player has recruited Cass to travel alongside them across the inhospitable Mojave wastes, she will begin to divulge more about her tragic past. It will later emerge that her contemporaries from the Van Graffs and the Crimson Caravan company had colluded together to massacre her couriers to eliminate Cassidy Caravans as competition.

Cass is motivated by revenge, though the Courier can secure a better future for her, with one ending sequence stating that after the events of New Vegas she moved west to Vault City, where the player encounters her father during Fallout 2.
