2. Emil - Nier: Automata

Now this entry is a funny one because in order to get to this super secret and super powered super boss, you actually need to beat ANOTHER hidden boss in the game, which is actually.... also the same boss.

It's actually pretty appropriate, considering that the super boss in question is none other than Emil from NieR: Automata, a remnant of the original game and for 90 percent of the time, a friendly (if a little annoying shopkeeper)

The other 10% though, is another matter, as Emil's and Emil's Determination are some of the hardest challenges you will ever be asked to overcome. The first is triggered by stealing a mask from his shack and then returning to rob him once more, leading him to defend his possessions by trying to run you over with his rickshaw-style body. I know that sounds weird but this is a weird game.

If that wasn't enough, in order to tackle Emil's Determination you need to max out all your weapons, have defeated Emil previously and then head out to the desert, where suddenly a huge construct made of Emil's masks will erupt from the dunes forcing you to duke it out. It's a brilliant battle that is incredibly tense thanks to the huge damage output it doles out through its laser eyes, bombing run attacks and explosions. It's also level 99, so your gear had best be top drawer otherwise you'll find yourself buried in the sands alongside who knows how many others.
