8 More Video Games Better Than The Movie They're Based On

1. World War Z

To say that some were hyped for the release of World War Z the movie was a bit of an understatement, what with the fanbase themselves forming a towering mass of bodies clambering over one another to see how Max Brook's phenomenally granular survival guide would be adapted for the big screen.

However, those groans and cries dulled significantly when it turned out that Brad Pitt would helm the project as its lead, thus confirming that it would be yet another by-the-numbers zombie flick for the popcorn-munching masses. Lo and behold, upon hitting cinemas it was clear as day that all the edges had been smoothed off the film and upbeat deus ex machina moments included so as not to ever challenge the audience in the slightest.

Therefore it was a bit strange to see this lukewarm pool of piss be used to baptize a game of the same name in 2019, six years after the film's release, and even more shocking was that the game was bloody excellent.

Well, to be fair the title did struggle at first to find an identity, appearing more Left For Dead 2.5 in places, but after months of support from the devs, a slew of updates and constant rebalances the game was finally able to do the IP proud.

The game is a relentless mix of action and demanding co-op survival, pitting your group against waves of enemies as they try to not just survive but solve puzzles and help others just make it through another day, and seeing as how Back4Blood kinda kegged itself I'm genuinely tempted to go back to its warm, if slightly musty embrace.
