1. Invisibility - Starbound

As fun as it might seem to research lists like this, very few times am I left rolling on the floor in fits of laughter. However, after stumbling upon the "invisibility" spell from the otherwise aggressively charming Terraria-like Starbound, I made a noise from my nose that sounded like a pig was exiting one nostril and the entirety of the Earth's air was entering the other.

And what caused this monstrous nasal cacophony? Well, the fact that the invisibility spell is absolutely pathetic.

Now to be fair to the game, this is an effect that was actually removed from the title before launch, however, players found the unused ability and modded it back into the game, unlocking its hilariously naff effects in the process.

The one job of an ability with the name "invisibility" should surely be to mask the user from others, be they monsters or other players right? Well at first you might think that things are going smoothly as do disappear from the environment and can now roam about chuckling to yourself that you're the new Solid Snake. However there's just one glaring oversight with this, and that oversight is having over your very head, for your see your name bar doesn't disappear meaning everyone and everything can still see exactly where you are.

Oh, and the effect only lasts for five seconds meaning that everyone you tried to fool is now most definitely able to see your red face once you pop back into view.
