8 Reasons Persona 5 Is One Of The PS4's Most Promising Exclusives
2. Personas And Enemies Are Superbly Designed
We’ve already touched on the overall visual style of Persona 5, but we’re going to get down to the nitty-gritty with the monsters. There’s pretty much every variety of ghost and ghoul imaginable in the Shin Megami Tensei (the main series of games Persona is actually a spin-off from).
You’ve got everything from the cute little developer mascot Jack Frost, to giant, green, chariot-riding, phallic lizard monsters. No, really. It’s called Mara, if you were wondering. It’s really gross.
The titular Personas are what help our loveable rogues do battle in the game. They’re a manifestation of our inner feelings and desires, our personalities. They also look pretty wacky, like giant monsters.
They somehow manage to avoid being over-designed whilst still packing in a surprising amount of detail, going above and beyond with little nods and references to the character that spawned them. It’s the sort of game you’d want to buy an art book for.
