8 Recent Video Games That Utterly Messed With Your Mind

2. Genesis Noir

Genesis Noir is quite possibly the hardest game to define.

It's at once a crime thriller, point and click adventure, love story, and also jazz-infused retelling about the creation of the universe itself. And yet, despite looking like its identity would result in a kaleidoscope of chaos, Genesis Noir comes out the other side looking as smooth as its visuals suggest.

As you might expect when dealing with so many concepts at once, things can get mind-melting in mere seconds, especially when you're actively trying to prevent The Big Bang from ever happening at all by way of clever use of a black hole.

Plus, the game isn't exactly afraid to back up its premise with scientific theory, presenting you with some stiff puzzle challenges from time to time.

Still, because it's visuals and presentation are so utterly charming and its soundtrack so lusciously buttery, you won't even care that your brain is turned to jelly in these moments. It's an utterly spellbinding experience that will cause you to use your smarts and then watch your mind melt in equal measure.
