8 Ridiculous Video Game Plotholes We Love Anyway

7. What Happened To The Destroyed Moon? - Sonic

In Sonic Adventure 2, Dr. Eggman uses his ultra-powerful Eclipse Cannon to rip a huge chunk out of the moon, yet as totally insane an accomplishment as this is, it's bafflingly ignored by every other game in the series since, where the moon just looks totally fine once again.

It's completely absurd, and yet it became much tougher to take genuine issue with this once Sonic Adventure 2 director Takashi Iizuka pulled an explanation out of the deepest recesses of his ass.

When put on the spot in an interview with Game Informer, Iizuka hilariously declared that the moon looks fine post-Sonic Adventure 2 because it has rotated around to show its "good side," with the destroyed side remaining out of view in the dark.

Iizuka also added that the moon in the Sonic games doesn't have the same physical properties as the one in our own reality, so the damage dealt to it wouldn't have an impact on, say, the tides on Earth.

What the hell, sure.
