8 Ridiculous Video Game Plotholes We Love Anyway

6. Everything About Doors - Resident Evil

Since the Resident Evil series' inception, one of its key characteristics has been a bevy of locked doors which players can only unlock by finding keys which are typically gated behind a host of convoluted puzzles, because why the hell wouldn't they be?

For anyone playing Resident Evil for the first time, it's impossible not to look at these locked doors and wonder why our heavily armed protagonists aren't able to cut the middle man out and just shoot or blow each problematic door to shreds.

This is especially egregious in areas of the games where the doors look like they're made of flimsy wood. As a wise man once said, it don't make no damn sense.

But Resident Evil just wouldn't be Resident Evil without these hilariously overbaked, at time maddeningly obtuse puzzles.

Just like having to use ink ribbons to save your progress and magically healing near-fatal wounds with a first aid spray, it's fundamentally illogical, but nevertheless an iconic, even much-loved staple of the franchise.
