8 Titles That Proved Licensed Video Games Can Be Awesome

1. Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic

Star Wars has seen a mixed bag of video games since the first film hit the big screen. In that time we€™ve seen movie tie-ins, Starfighter-simulators, first-person shooters and strategy games. Some of these have been excellent games in their own right, while others have can only be described as flops. Perhaps the best game based in the Star Wars universe though, is a role-playing game set thousands of years before Episode 1. Knights of the Old Republic let players choose what type of Jedi they wanted to be. You could focus exclusively on force powers, make use of the dark side of the force, or be a lightsaber-combat master. The game also featured excellent dialogue options and choices over how to carry out missions. Featuring a huge variety of memorable characters, such as HK-47, and a wide range of different environments the game was never boring and kept you entranced throughout. The main villain was intriguing and of course it also had one of the best plot twists ever seen in a video game. The game won numerous awards, including several Game of the Year accolades. It has also featured on many publications list of greatest games of all time, demonstrating how games can expand the stories of already established franchises.
