2. The Hold-The-Line Defender

These defenders aren't interested in leaving the objective, and they focus on protecting the area rather than killing the opposition. Not only does this ensure the objective is guarded, but attackers are at their most vulnerable when entering a room, so waiting by the door or window is a good way to increase k:d.

Hold-the-line defenders crouch behind deployable shields where they can take enemy fire without being injured and attack enemies as the reload, search for cover or try to get behind the shield. Lesion, Ela, Maestro and Echo often play like this, attacking enemies immediately after being attacked by a drone or camera, or after walking into a cleverly placed trap (this is the advantage of selecting Lesion or Ela's traps over Kapkan's, which inflict much more damage).

Having placed his armour pack, Rook often takes this approach, positioning himself in the safest part of the objective. Avoid sitting just outside of the objective as a hold-the-line defender, because this may mean having to sprint out of protection to prevent attackers securing the bio-hazard container or placing the diffuser out of sight.
